Fabric printing round two!

Another instalment of my experiments with hand-printing onto fabric.

I've been meaning to post these for a little while now, the green one needs a little more work I think, I might introduce another colour and see how that looks.

I'm particularly pleased with this design, although it doesn't line up perfectly, I'm really happy with it for a first attempt!

I'm now using perspex to mount my design onto, this way I can see through it so I can line up the image better. I'm still not managing to get a consistent print, it's tricky to get an even pressure...I'm working on it though.

I was so pleased with this design that I decided to get out my sewing machine and make myself a new shopping bag!

Trees in the mist

I am lucky enough to have a very talented dad who makes beautiful glassware, and I'm luckier still that he let me loose on one of his pieces to try out a design of my own.

The bowl is made up of layers of different coloured glass, I masked off the areas of my design and sandblasted the exposed glass away to reveal the colours beneath. I did this in layers to create an element of depth. I think it's quite successful for a first attempt.

Happy month!!

I'm currently coming to the end of a long break in sunny Cornwall, although today has decided to mark the first of the month with lots of wind and rain! In that case, I thought what better than to post some of my pictures from earlier in the trip when the sun beamed down on a beautiful Easter weekend.

The walk from Kynance Cove to the Lizard.

Kynance cove as the sun beings to slowly sink. Take it from me the water was pretty freezing, imagine an ice cream headache from your head down to your toes......mmmmm lovely!

Cadgwith boats..........

................Cadgwith floats
Porthbeer and sea pinks, just around the corner from Coverack is this idyllic deserted cove........stunning!
Ending the day with fish and chips in the harbour.
A very bold and unfazed Blackbird happily posed for a photo.
