Lazy sunday

I hope you all had a happy bank holiday weekend, despite the iffy weather. My brother came down for a few days and we made the most of the dry weather and had a lovely family day out on Sunday.

First stop was Potager Garden & Glass House Cafe near Constantine. Pretty setting, yummy food (delicious cakes!) and even a spot of badminton in the garden if you feel so inclined (not a great idea on a full stomach whilst wearing slip-on sandals!) It had a lovely laid back atmosphere, I would definitely recommend giving it a try if you're after a slightly different cafe experience.

After that we headed over to Kestle Barton near Helford to take a look at the Garden there. It was quite small, but perfectly formed and absolutely full of Bees, I don't think I've ever seen so many. It was great to see that they have obviously based their planting around encouraging wildlife. We spent ages there, getting a bit trigger happy with our you can see!

Mud, mud, glorious mud!!

We're back from a brilliant long weekend of festival fun! It was soooooo very wet on the Friday which resulted in a very muddy start! Additional morning top ups of rain also meant that things got muddier and muddier. Luckily I quite like mud, (as long as I have my wellies on) and the sun did come and out for quite a bit so all was not lost. It was a bit of a mission to get the car out of the field yesterday, as a result I spent quite a large part of this morning cleaning it!

We ate lots of delicious food, danced and lounged and most importantly were treated to lots of brilliant highlights were Lucy Rose, Tallest Man on Earth, tUnE-yArDs, The Staves, King Creosote & Jon Hopkins, Slow Club, Feist and lots, LOTS more....we were truly spoilt.

Fun times!

We're off to Green Man Festival in the morning! Whooooo, can't wait!!! Haven't packed a thing yet so feeling a smidge stressed. I so hope the weather decides to play nice, but I have my doubts.

Have a good few days.....I'm off to start packing (my least favourite pastime, but I suppose it's a small price to pay for the fun that will follow!)

Allotment tales

My Parents took up an allotment earlier this year (well I say allotment, but it was really just a patch of field) and we joined in with helpful enthusiasm, putting up a rabbit proof fence, digging beds and excavating the many, many lumps of granite buried deep in the earth. I have wanted to grow things for a long time now, so I was very excited at the prospect of getting my hands dirty, planting seeds and watching them grow.......but then we had the rain, oh the rain!!! As plants emerged and then withered and rotted, our hearts sank and enthusiasm waned. Our fledgling allotment was struggling and with busy lives was left on the back burner, so I was pleased to see my mum return home from a trip the other day with a little harvest of courgettes and broad beans. Some success at last!!! Yesterday we went to see for ourselves and were pleasantly surprised.

I took some pics of these lovely succulents in yesterday's sunshine. I love the flowers on the first one, they look like tiny little crowns.

A day out

Yesterday we went on a bike ride from Devoran to Portreath through the beautiful Bissoe Valley nature reserve. It was a lovely sunny day with not a cloud in the sky, so we jumped at the chance of a day out in the countryside. We even managed a dip in the sea before lunch.

I bought my bike a few years ago and I can probably count the number of times I've used it on my right hand. We haven't really made good friends yet, but I hope to change that with more days like this.

Happy weekend everyone!!

Bright as a button

I'm currently working on shall I put it without mentioning the dreaded word.....lets say 'Festive' card designs. Now don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of said festivities, but I'm also very aware that we are only in the first week of August so to mention it yet would be wrong.

So instead here's some typography I've been working on.

As the furnace is still off until September I'm using the time to work on my Illustration portfolio (I might even try and make myself a little website....eeek!!)

Blooming marvellous!

I treated myself to these stunning Dahlias from the
market this morning. I was so eager to take some
pics of them I didn't really do them justice, but
trust me they are bunch of beauties!

Card designs

In the midst of Olympic fever, I have have been working
away at some ideas for card designs.

Here's a little set of four adapted from my earlier piece Fancy a cup?

New additions

Happy August!!! It's a bit of a washout so far this morning down here in Cornwall, I hope it's better where you are. I'm fighting the desire to just curl up on the sofa with a hot drink and watch the Olympics, but I'm going to try my best to get in a few productive hours in first.

I'll start by showing you these new pieces I've just finished. They're now on sale in the gallery and on line on my gallery page here.
