Last week we took a  trip to the Eden project, I haven't been for about 10 years and it's changed so much. It was a lovely day with lots of oohs and aahs at all the wonderful exotic plants.....I loved it and will definitely be back!

A spot of colour

After a day an a half of (exhausting, I'm not used to hard work!!) glass-blowing I have now produced a fairly   substantial selection of wobbly spot glasses ready to flog in the gallery. Making these is such a great way to practice and improve my skills as they are quite tricky to get right, but they don't waste too much glass if they go really badly wrong (I only lost a couple!) I'm quite pleased, and reassured, that I haven't forgotten everything over the summer break! :o)

Next time I'm back in the studio I plan to make some bigger pieces ready for sandblasting so more to come soon.....

Toast, Walks & Wildflowers

A couple of months back I took a trip up to Plymouth to visit my brother. It was only a flying visit, so he took me on a mammoth walk to see some of the sights. I took some pictures with his camera which he sent to me ages ago and I have only just remembered about them.

First we walked to Royal William Yard for breakfast at The Bakery. This consisted of an unlimited supply yummy homemade toast with homemade jam and peanut butter......delicious; I can still taste it now.

From there we continued our walk (very much needed after the unnatural quantities of toast consumed!) I can't remember the name of where we walked to, but we could look back over where we had just been and there was a lovely hillside covered in wildflowers.

We then embarked on the long walk home and stumbled across one of the loveliest sites I've seen in while. In the centre of Plymouth, in the middle of a busy roundabout, was a little haven of colour and beauty........a wildflower garden. It was perfect, everything was in full bloom and the colours were so vibrant and cheerful I felt truly heart warmed that such a lovely thing could exist amidst such a built up, exhaust choked part of the city. We need more of this kind of thing to bring a bit of cheer to people's lives, it certainly worked for me!

Have a happy weekend!

They're ready!

My new hand cut 'Cabin & Tree' pictures are now finished and for sale on my etsy shop!

The furnace is now back on and I will be settling back into my glass blowing adventures again from early next week, but I have really enjoyed making these and aim to do more based on a new theme (when i've thought of it that is)

Sneak peak

They're finished!! More detailed pics to follow soon, but I was eager to show you a little sneak preview. I wasn't sure at first when I started adding the monoprint colour but it has grown on me and I'm really pleased with them!

They will be available on my etsy shop very this space!

Last few....for now

I'm eagerly awaiting the furnace going back on again next week as I'm itching to get back into the swing of glass-blowing again (fingers crossed I haven't forgotten everything!) I've done quite well over the summer sandblasting designs onto the pieces I made in the spring, but I am now down to one left to play with so timing couldn't be better! My first job is to get cracking on making some more wobbly glasses (they seem to be in demand!) which is perfect for me as they are a brilliant way to practice my skills without wasting too much glass if they go belly up! Once I've made a substantial batch it's on to things bigger and hopefully better.......eeeek!

In the meantime here are some pics of my most resent pieces. The last one is available to buy on-line here.

Happy weekend!

We went on a sneaky coastal walk in the sunshine this morning instead of working and it was glorious!! I didn't want to come back, but I've managed to have a reasonably productive afternoon so not feeling too guilty.

Happy weekends everyone, I hope you get out and enjoy some of this sunshine while it lasts!

Pots and crocks

I've just added this new 'Pots and Crocks' pattern to my website. I can't seem to get enough of these vintage pots, but I think at last I'm done........well for now at least :o)
