Wreck

Another find form last weeks holiday was this shipwreck. It was another overcast, moody day and the wind was whipping up the sand. I find shipwrecks quite disturbing and fascinating in equal measure, the eerie thought of the life the ship once had set against the beautiful colours and textures of the wreck as it emerges up out of the sand.

Rock formations

I'm back from my holiday in sunny/windy/rainy North Cornwall, and even though we didn't really travel far from home it felt like a proper week away from it all. Even the sun managed to show it's face for a reasonable amount of it, allowing for numerous breakfasts in the garden which was a real treat!

We did some beautiful coastal walks (some sunny, some very windy!) One day we stumbled across these wonderful rock formations. It was a bit of an overcast day and the beach from above looked really dark and uninspiring, but the rocks up close where amazing! So many different variations in colour and texture on one beach.

New work!

Ta da!!!.......I finally got round to getting some pics sorted of a couple of my latest pieces. They are very subtle and delicate in colour so I have been finding it really hard to take good pictures, with this in mind I enlisted my dad and his superior camera to take these and I think he's done a pretty good job. They still don't have quite the same quality as they do in the flesh but I think you can get the general idea.

I'm particularly pleased with the design on the lime dish, I haven't shown it to any punters yet so it will be interesting to see peoples reaction. I hope you like them :o)

Right, wish me luck.......I'm off on holiday tomorrow and I'm crossing my fingers and toes that the sun decides to show it's face. See you in a week! x

A Happy Monday

Phew......It's been a busy couple of weeks! A trip back up to Bristol to see friends and family, an exceedingly windy Royal Cornwall Show experience and a visit from a lovely friend.

The furnace has now been turned off for the summer. I spent the early part of last week busily trying to make as much as I could, to give me a range of pieces to work on over the next couple of months (pictures of new work to follow very soon!) I then braved the crazy weather to help out on my parents stand in the west country crafts tent at the Royal Cornwall show, I even got the chance to exhibit some of my work and it was great to get some positive feedback!

After all the work and crazy weather my lovely friend Rowan came to stay and the sun finally decided to come out the day before she went home. So we spent the day on the beautiful Helford river, having lunch at the Ferryboat Inn and then a naughty cream tea at Carwinion gardens..... blissful!!
